Inside and out, this classical house teems with ideas that reflect the historic charm of traditional, Southern architecture. Abberley Lane derives its character from classical proportions and precise detailing. Designed by architect John Tee, the exterior of this house features ornamental ironwork, plantation shutters, French doors, fanlight transoms, copper accents and a formal entrance marked by a pediment and columns. The interior of this home complements the handsome fa?ade. Inside, there's an iron balcony, similar to the exterior porch railing, overlooking the family room. Also, copper crown molding in the kitchen echoes the copper roofing at the front porch. The interior is bright and open, with high ceilings and careful placement of windows and doors creatiing a spacious effect throughout the design.
An Exclusive Design for
John Tee, Architect
Born and raised in Mississippi, John Tee received his Bachelor of Architecture degree at Louisiana State University and went on to become a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. Working in Atlanta for over 30 years, his Southern roots and passion for custom homebuilding combine with a strong appreciation for traditional Southern architecture in every one of his design projects.
“I believe that streets and sidewalks are like a big outdoor room for all the neighbors and kids to gather and go in different directions…And the front porch is part of the outdoor room,” says Tee. “It’s the perfect transition space that brings the outdoors in and vice versa. These days you need every square foot in your house to count, just like each dollar of your paycheck.”
