Description
Roughing it can be a lot of fun, as our Weekender Cabin clearly shows. Ideal for short getaway trips or as a sportsman's cabin, it's also comfortable enough for extended stays. The cabin is perched on piers and clad in board-and-batten siding. We've detailed a stickwork balustrade and added a band of ship's wheel trim below the porch roof. Other trim designs may be chosen for your own signature. The plan is simple, with the main area consisting of one large cooking, eating, and relaxing room. An efficient woodstove in the living room allows year-round use of the cabin. Off to the side, the bedroom is as snug as a ship's berth with its sloped ceiling; the bed itself is tucked into a window bay. A small bath is behind the bedroom. If a beach site is planned, be sure to check local ordinances and adapt foundation type and first-floor level accordingly. Construction drawings include details for a marsh or dune walkover complete with convenient shower and rinsing sink.
