Description

Like the 19th-century cottages of coastal Georgia and the Carolinas, our Lowcountry house casually blends comfort and style. Much of the dwelling's charm is derived from its clean, traditional lines. A shady porch wraps the front and creates a cool zone during hot Southern summers. Local stone stacked on the chimney in a random pattern, weathered wood siding, and a standing-seam metal roof give the house a rustic flavor and add to its regional appeal. 

The simple floor plan contains nearly 3,400 square feet of living space while providing plenty of privacy and flexibility. The skylit rear porch, tucked between the family room and the breakfast room, may be enclosed for an additional 110 square feet of heated space. If budget or family size dictates a smaller home at first, the master bedroom wing may be omitted.

Interiors are spacious, with 9-foot ceilings on the main level. One special feature is the family-style kitchen with a walk- in pantry and a built-in desk. Three bedrooms, two baths, a loft, and an open stair occupy the upper floor. Working drawings include a double garage and connecting covered breezeway.
