Vernon Hill

Vernon Hill is one from a series of plans featured in a collection from Biltmore For Your Home and Southern Living House Plans. In the tradition of George Vanderbilt, this design, by Stephen Mouzon, blends traditional styling with comfortable living. Its stucco exterior with wood and brick accents, add both distinction and elegance.

Interiors are open with large rooms and a convenient family-style floor plan. The architect suggests several spaces may serve dual functions. Formal living areas flank the foyer, while a private study sits just off the two-story-high family room. This space can serve as either a library for the master suite or as a home office. Another multi-purpose example is seen in the formal living room, since it may work as a guest room with its own private bath.

The kitchen's U-Shaped island is ideal for casual dining and provides ample preparation space for entertaining. Adjacent to the kitchen, the octagonaL-Shaped breakfast room may double as a sunroom or retreat. In the master bedroom, a tray ceiling creates a feeling of elegance. Two walk-in closets and a luxurious bath complete the space.
