    DESCRIPTION

The raised cottages that dot the Gulf Coast have long been known for handsome architecture and practicality. With three bedrooms and more than 2,600 square feet of heated space, this house plan celebrates the rich architectural traditions of those coastal dwellings. The steep, gabled roof shades the house from sun and rain. Square columns, set between delicate wood balustrades, support the broad front porch.

Inside, formal living and dining rooms, each with a fireplace, flank the central hall. In the family room, a third fireplace rests between two pairs of floor-to-ceiling windows, and a small sitting porch opens off of the room. The master suite completes the first floor. Upstairs lie two additional bedrooms, a bath, and attic storage.
