Porches front and rear add polish to our Southern-style cottage. A diamond-work balustrade connects six slender square columns, which support a graceful, scalloped cornice. The diamond pattern is also in the muntins of the fanlight.
Inside, a traditional floor plan offers approximately 2,500 square feet of heated space. A center-hall foyer opens through graceful coved openings to formal living and dining rooms. The kitchen and family room form the heart of the plan. The family room's traditional fireplace makes it pleasant for both fall and winter gatherings; a window wall and adjacent porch orient it to the rear garden. Skylights over the room help to brighten the area.
Small wings enclose a sunny breakfast room on one side of the family room/ kitchen and a study on the other, each with a vaulted ceiling and fireplace. A butler's pantry is tucked between the kitchen and dining room. Wings extend from the back of the plan to separate the master bedroom from the other bedrooms and enclose a courtyard.
