Description
Compact and perfectly proportioned, this Colonial-style cottage possesses a long history. When colonists arrived in Virginia, they brought with them distinct building practices from England. With careful attention to detail, they constructed frame houses consisting of one room with a garrett above. From these modest beginnings, the story-and-a-half house of colonial Virginia evolved.
The plan is a simple interpretation of this traditional 18th-century Virginia home, carefully adapted to the practical requirements of today's lifestyle.
Inside, rooms are spacious. From the front entry, a wide hall leads through the house, with a large living room, a master bedroom and bath, and a kitchen positioned off the hall. Space for the washer and dryer is conveniently tucked under the stairs and hidden behind bifold doors. The upstairs includes two bedrooms and a bath.
