Comfortable and expansive in the tradition of many old Southern homes, this Country Georgian house offers an engaging blend of country comfort and formal architectural styling. Designed by Dean Winesett of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, it's an easy and charming interpretation of the Georgian style, adapted to the practical requirements of a warm, humid climate. A spreading roof with deep overhangs and the placement of doors and windows provide natural cooling. The gallery, screened porch, and sunroom help to ease the transition between outdoors and in, and offer comfortable sitting areas. The house is raised on a basement to keep it cool and dry. Inside, rooms are spacious with 9-foot ceilings downstairs. Double-door openings off the broad center hall open the house visually and bring in breezes. The master bedroom wing contains an adjoining bath and projecting bay. A sunroom at the rear of the house serves as either a sitting room for the bedroom or an extension of the breakfast room. Three bedrooms, two full baths, and a broad stair hall occupy the upper floor. The basement level contains approximately 1,500 square feet of extra space in a double garage and workshop.
